Weekliii Round-Up: Seismic Surveying and Story Map Journaling
This week has been brought to you by endless amounts of caffeine, #DailyBrainCandiii and #MeetTheProduct posts, and even news about the upcoming 2018 Esri Petroleum GIS Conference in Houston, TX. Read up and enjoy!
Both having your data and being able to use it sometimes seems like a bizarre request. For well survey and seismic navigation data - complete with its various formats and standards across businesses - this can seem like an exceptionally daunting feat. Fortunately for those who require a way to convert these files into more managable formats or even load them into your Geographic Information System (GIS) in the first place, there is an app for that. Meet GDX - or Integrated Geodetics Toolkit - in this week's #MeetTheProduct post.
There are many ways to display a map. Gone are the days where the spatial interpretations we see consist solely of a few points here and there paired with a title, legend, and north arrow. In its place have popped up many a way to view this data - from web apps to mobile interactions, we have been successful in designing maps that not only fit the data they represent, but also to fit the technology on which they are shown. One of these resources is the Story Map Journal. When Esri introduced the Story Map, they provided GIS users a quick and seamless way to create a simple narrative with their spatial data. With this enhancement, they have broadened that design, turning the map story into a full-blown resource that acts as a web page and article view of your data. Learn more about how to set this up and ways in which you can apply it in your own workflows in this Esri post.
