It has been months since we have seen an update to Esri's newest desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) application. Now, we are in for a treat! The company has started rolling out entry to the ArcGIS Pro 2.2 Beta, allowing users a look at new color schemes, full motion video, new exploratory analysis tools, and much more.
Data is big business and so is the software we use to visualize it. While many professionals diving into the application of spatial data prefer the ArcGIS platform developed by Esri, there are those who rather employ their data alongside a system that is touted for its prowess at the visualization of such a mass of information. While much of this data is useless to us as an individual, it can prove very useful when put in the spotlight of consumerism.
Because of this, is it time to begin establishing a more defined Code of Ethics as they pertain to the gathering and application of this data?
Better yet, can this concept of geo-ethics be useful in industries like the Natural Resources sector – or even within our own businesses in general? While we may not yet know the answer, this week’s #DailyBrainCandiii post may just have an argument for the latter.
