Weekliii Round-Up: News on NADCON 5.0 for Data Conversion and the History of Chevron

Let's take a break from this busy week to catch up on the articles, news, and wisdom we have shared throughout the week. From generating alignment sheets to updates in the geodetics field, it is time to explore more below. Read on!

Manually calculating the changes between coordinate systems is - and this is an understatement - challenging. Thankfully, tools exist to do this heavy lifting for us. While this is certainly a good thing, we also must be aware of those options and updates available for our disposal. One update in particular is National Geodetic Survey's (NGS) NADCON 5.0. The North American Datum Conversion (NADCON) tool is a transformation that eases the readjustment of the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27) to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Learn more about how this will be impacted, especially considering the future introduction of the new National Reference Frame of 2022 (NATRF2022) and NSRS2022 in this week's #DailyBrainCandiii post.

Blog post about the Integrated Folio Add-In for ArcGIS that allows Geographic Information System GIS professionals to create alignment sheets for Oil and Gas pipelines.

Alignment sheets, or as-built documents, are one of the best assets a pipeline owner can have on hand. It acts as a blueprint, showing the exact route of the pipeline when built. Although essential to maintaining the integrity of these assets within a digital world, the trouble with alignment sheets is that they can be cumbersome to generate. This is where Integrated Folio comes to the rescue. Designed for Esri's ArcMap software, this application offers a refreshingly simple approach to generating alignment sheets - all the while allowing the user to customize and include appropriate details as necessary. Learn more about this solution and how it can help your team in this week's #MeetTheProduct post.
