Previously associated with technologies like Bitcoin and other digital currencies, analysts have begun to find ways to apply the same blockchain technology to the electric industry. A blockchain is a shared, encrypted ledger that is maintained by a network of computers. There are some who are predicting - or at the very least, hoping - that it could be the solution needed better manage the ways data is managed in regarded to the electric grid, keeping better track of those certificates associated with clean energy. Presentation by Gerard Noseworthy of Integrated Informatics Inc at the Geomatics Atlantic conference on using LAS and LiDAR data for Utilities.

We appreciate a good - well, bad as well - pun, and we hope you do too. One of our developers in our St. John's, NL office recently presented at the Geomatics Atlantic 2017 conference on working with LAS and LiDAR, especially as they pertain to issues like finding dangerous vegetation in the Utilities industry. It is no secret that Web Apps are the new norm and have been for a while. The ways in which we interact with our data has changed drastically over the years. Gone are the days where paper maps are a company's go-to resource...for most organizations, anyway. In their place have sprung up mediums like Mobile Applications and Dashboards. While companies are embracing this platform more and more, what are the real benefits of it? What if you are just starting out in the online revolution and are not sure where or how to begin? Explore these questions and more - including what features to pay close attention to - in this Embracing the Online Platform series.

Having a hand in the GIS world, we find it inspiring how frequently this technology and its many applications grow and evolve. As new technology is developed and organizations begin to tackle both long-standing and new-coming challenges, the application of GIS has found its way into newer territory in industries we might never have foreseen. Looking for some end-of-the-year inspiration for your own industry and organization? Check out this lengthy list of ways GIS is applied in everything from agriculture to weather. We promise something will surprise you.

We believe a piece of software is beneficial if it allows you to accomplish at least two things - turn processes that normally require head-scratching and staring at the clock into a breeze, and give you more options for functionality that you might not have otherwise. Integrated Geomancy checks both of these boxes, giving you back time in exchange for more solutions with its unique approach to the Full Field Optimization planning process. By incorporating the use of a comprehensive project structure, employing scenarios to test planning concerns, and allowing - nay, encouraging - the inclusion of supplemental data and constraints to better mimic the area studied to its real-life counterpart, this Add-In for ArcGIS sets teams up for success no matter which route taken.
