Weekliii Round-Up: ArcGIS Platform, Canadian Oil and Gas Milestones, and More...
Before you head off to your final few holiday parties and prepare for speed wrapping gifts - or quickly buying them if you are that person - take a quick break to indulge in the latest news and posts from this week.
With recent innovations in the tech community, spatial data is becoming more fluid. Esri has expanded its platform to incorporate more partners while Tableau has added more mapping functionality to its robust data visualization software. Unfortunately for users of both, some of the most commonly used types of spatial data are still not accepted by the Tableau import process - likewise, ArcGIS does not allow the upload of Tableau exports. To help act as a bridge between these two resources, Integrated Portage makes the data conversion process possible and adds simplicity to sending your data on a round-trip tour of the mapping world.
The end of the year is always a great time for reflecting on the things you have accomplished in the last 365 days, the goals you have set (and did or did not accomplish), and the talks your company has taken part in. In a quick throwback, let's look back at the Speed Showcases our team in Calgary, AB were a part of at this year's GeoAlberta Conference.
Are you new to the GIS game? Not sure what this platform called ArcGIS is and how it's actually used? Check out this post breaking down Esri's mapping platform and what industries it is most applied.
Many of us in the GIS world are ramping up to fully embrace Esri's latest platform - ArcGIS Pro - within the coming year. With this comes ensuring the applications we build are compliant with the software's framework and features. One of our most popular solutions of Integrated Marco Desktop has seen a remake this year because of this. While Integrated Marco Desktop is still available for those working with ArcMap and ArcCatalog, Integrated Marco Pro is now available for those who have begun the process of moving spatial data away from ArcGIS Map Documents (.mxd) to ArcGIS Pro Map Projects (.aprx). Get a peek at its functionality in our post up on the blog.
Since the mid-1800's, Canada has had a rich history of oil and natural gas discovery and innovation. In honor of the nation's 150th birthday, Context has assembled a timeline documenting key moments in its energy past. View the full timeline on their website now.
