Weekliii Round-Up: Wind Power Hub, Geomatics Atlantic, and More...
Today's talk is a tad windy, blowing in with this week's content from across the globe. We have news aplenty peppered by Integrated Marco Studio and LiDAR talk as well. We look forward to sharing this with you. Grab your coffee and read on!
Our most recent news on development in the Green Energy sector comes out of Denmark, a major player in wind energy currently on route to build the world's first largest offshore wind farm off the coast of the UK. Learn what this development means for both sustainability of wind energy and potential exports in the article here.
When working with spatial data, the process for putting it on a map is simple enough. Majority of this data already contains the deciding factors for placement - coordinates paired with spatial reference - which makes visualizing it a mere click of a button. What about data that does not have this? Whose only geographic reference consists of location names within its text? Well, that's a bit trickier...but not impossible. This post talks more about the process for attributing spatial information to non-spatial data, like PDFs, to be viewed on a map.
The concept of Machine Learning is a topic that will not be going away anytime soon. With companies able to get their hands on vast amounts of data, it is no longer feasible for them or their consumers to sift through these haystacks without a little help finding that elusive needle. Since we have not quite made it to the age of robot butlers and AI on every corner, we recognize that there is a bit more that goes into developing algorithms and applications that utilize this process. One of the biggest tasks? Preparing data with a machine in mind. This article talks about the "man behind the curtain" and why it is still necessary to have a human hand in a technology that is touted as purely machine.
Continuing our series about the importance of key features in Web Maps and Web Apps, this week's post waxes poetic on benefits of reports and how you can earn the title of World's Best Report Generator.
Miss this announcement? We hope not! Our office in St. John's, NL has announced their participation in this year's Geomatics Atlantic conference with both an exhibit and a presentation within the LiDAR Technology sessions of the show. View more details here.
